Clean-Up Begins

Arrow Woods Estates has wide roads with curbs. There are no driveways. The tenants were primarily driving up and over the curbs and parking on the grass. There were also unlicensed and non-working vehicles parked on both lawns and roadways. This was Jim's first endeavor - talk with each resident to let them all know this was no longer acceptable.

Some tenants complied immediately. Others took more persuading. After about a month, notices were placed on doors stating that cars would be towed after 7 more days. Jim talked with a towing company, which would tow the vehicles at no charge to us.

The tow truck arrived and started towing from the back of the community. Tenants who had previously talked with Jim about legitimate reasons for having the vehicle there were exempted, at least temporarily. (One car was waiting for the correct part, which would take a week to come. Another unlicensed vehicle was awaiting final payment from a buyer.)

One property had two unlicensed cars parked on the lawn. (This happened to be the lawn where Jim removed the shed talked about in the previous installment. We believe a pattern is forming with this tenant!) One of the cars was towed from the property, but when the truck returned for the second, the adult daughter was sitting in the middle of the car's hood. She called the police department from her seat, and they sent an officer to the community. He asked to see the notice, which Jim supplied to him, then promptly called his supervisor. The supervisor arrived, checked the notice and told the young lady to get off the car. The car was then removed from the property.

All residents now had a clear picture that life as they knew it had ended. Jim meant what he told them, but had given them ample opportunity to follow park rules before enforcing them.
