Ugly Duckling to Swan
After a great time learning with both old and new friends at MOM and spending a few days in Florida to take care of business there, it was time for Jim to return to Arrow Woods. Ellen stayed behind (again) to get her new business off to a running start. For those who don't know, her JOB ended on January 23rd! Thanks, Lonnie, Steve, and everyone else out there who had a hand in this!Arriving back at Arrow Woods, one of the first things to do was survey the community. Everything looked fine. One home, however, had a work crew. This home, an older doublewide, was one of the worst looking homes in Arrow Woods. It had no skirting and the wood exterior was rotting away.
Jim stopped to talk with the crew at the home. He learned that they had been hired to put vinyl siding on the house and add skirting! This will make a tremendous difference in the overall look of Arrow Woods.
We have perhaps found a contractor that we can have do some of our work as well. This man is licensed and insured, which we require before anyone does any work for us. It is apparent that he knows what he is doing, and offered to take Jim to see some of his inside work. We have had difficulty finding people who had a license and insurance and would also show up to do what we hired them for.
Another woman has told Jim that she is having her home sided and skirted, and her home is the first anyone sees as you enter our community! It appears that our hard work is starting to pay off in resident willingness to make their homes look nicer.
Both of these women owe us past-due lot rent from before we bought Arrow Woods. Although the money would be extremely helpful, we are willing to wait longer to collect it since we think these upgrades will actually serve a better purpose. First impressions are everything when someone is looking to live in a community, and these upgrades will certainly help with that!
