So Much to Do!

There is only a little more than a month until MOM. We are expecting at least 100 people to come to Troy, partly to check out our park! We are excited, and definitely wanting the "best foot forward".

Our new office has arrived, which we bought from our friend Brad Wiedman (the other guy in Troy). It is a new park model home, 11 1/2' x 33'. The mover brought it in on Friday, even before we paid for it. It has yet to be set, but that will happen next week. We decided to buy a park-model because we had a smaller lot that would be perfect, and built the mailboxes on that lot.

Also next week two more 16 x 80 singlewide homes will be moved into Arrow Woods Estates. We bought these from the Greentree September list. Next week we will be back out looking for more homes to buy from the October list. We bid on 5 houses and won 2. One home, that we really would have liked in our park just flat out went for too much money. Jim raised our bid one time and then said no. It would have looked nice, but made no monetary sense. The other two homes were not awarded - we were the only bidder on both and were below the minimum. We opted not to raise our bids but wait until next month (and bid the same thing.....)

We are still selling homes as fast as we can bring them in and get them ready. The last home was sold before it ever moved into our community. Jim took the potential owners to it, since it was a private buy, and they put money down at that time. They were moving in from out-of-state and it was a little tricky getting everything necessary done before they moved in. The skirting and porch did not get done until they were already here.

We currently have one of the two homes coming in sold, sight unseen. They will decide which one they want when the homes get here and they can choose which one they want. We are trying to buy homes that don't need a lot of fix-up. We are paying a little more to the finance company, but it all works out in the end. We have told these people that it will be at least mid-October before it is ready, and possibly close to November. They will wait!

So, as I said - so much to do! When the office gets set we need to move everything from the current one to this one and get it set up. THEN we need to move everything from the storage unit that Jim has been using to the current office and get the storage unit torn down. That is the worst looking place in the park, currently. (The absolute shame of that is I have actually had people ask me if it is for rent. It is hard to imagine that anyone would actually consider living in it.) Of course, add the two rehab homes in the mix, plus it is the time of year for planting trees and bushes and we are two busy people!

If we get some homes from the October list and get them in here the week before MOM we will leave them as they arrive so everyone that is NOT a "list" shopper can see what they look like when they are bought. Of course, some people who are here are old-hat at that game, but we know some have never been inside one. (We will try not to get anything too nasty!)
