The New Doublewide

We FINALLY got in the doublewide yesterday that we bid on in December. As usual, we find that it is very slow to get things done here in Alabama. This home is a 5 bedroom, 3 bath model!

We bid on this home before leaving for the MHU Cruise. When we got back, we got a call from Greentree that we were the highest bidder, but another bidder had told them someone had broken in it and stolen the copper wires. We immediately went to the home to re-inspect it. We found that someone had, indeed, broken in. They stole the inside air conditioner unit as well as the outside one, cut the sheetrock in the utility room, and removed a few wires from there. They had not touched the rest of the home.

This home was in excellent shape when we first went there. The people had even vacuumed as they left, which is leaving a home in much better shape than we normally see. We determined that we still wanted to own this home, but lowered our bid due to the damage. Currently the sale is "pending" because Greentree wants their adjuster to come out so they can collect on insurance. They asked us to have it moved to our park, however, to prevent further damage. (Luckily, no more damage was done since it took so long to get it moved.)

We have already sold this home. One of the current tenant/buyers had wanted a doublewide when they moved to the state in September, and love the size of this one! We have found them to be wonderful assets to our community, something we strive for. They will move out of a 16 x 80 into this 28 x 80, giving them a ton of extra room, including two more bedrooms.

The home is being set now, and we need to wait for the bank representative to come inspect it before we fix the items that were stolen, so it will be a minimum of a month before we can move these people in. They are very excited and were outside taking pictures as the home came in yesterday -it is kind of like watching your home being built, I guess!
