Vacation!

Jim and I are on our first true vacation in two years - much needed, I might add! Although we make regular plans to be away from the park, it is usually involved with the business in some manner. We spent time earlier this year going to the mobile home show, which was great, but the homes started blurring together there were so many! The best part was checking out the exhibitors and seeing what was new out there.

We are spending a week at home without having to fix this or that in rental houses that we own in Florida. We are meeting with our rental agent, however, to brainstorm on getting an empty one filled - tough these days in Florida! Then, Friday morning, we fly to Seattle!

We will be Seattle tourists on Saturday and early Sunday, but are so ready to get on the MHU cruiseship on Sunday afternoon for a relaxing cruise with many of our friends from this community! Since Steve and Corey decided NOT to do seminars this time we will just relax and talk mobile homes! (Since this just happens to be one of our favorite topics, what a great time we will have!)

In the meantime, back at the park, our new manager is getting a workout! We asked a family to move out by July 1 and they are finally moving out today. They are moving a large doublewide out of the park and she has encountered a mover that we have not previously dealt with. He has not necessarily been cordial to her so we have had many phone conversations about it. He seemed to be hesitant about showing her his license, insurance information and the necessary moving permit. Things have been better since she handed the phone to him to talk with Jim directly.

Getting this family out of the park will be huge for us. Since we were able to do it without paying the exhorbitant amount of money we have to pay for legal services it will DEFINITELY be cheaper than an eviction. They owe us no money, and since they did not make the July 1 "target" date they will not receive the $500 Jim told the woman we would give them if they were gone by then. Although we hate to lose a lot rent, in the long run it will make the park run much smoother and make more good families want to live there.
