A Home For Christmas
A wise one once said “to whom much is given, much is expected”. We have been greatly blessed in many ways. In that spirit, we continued what we hope has become a tradition. This was our second annual A Home for Christmas Giveaway. We donated a home to a local church and asked them to select a family to receive the home. Last year, Calvary Baptist Church selected an elderly lady who was a valued member of its congregation. She has been a wonderful resident. This year, Cornerstone Church selected a young man disabled from a car accident to be the recipient of the home. We are excited to have him become a part of our Madison Woods family. Giving away a home is the best way we could think of to say thank you and to give back to the community that has supported us since we arrived in the quaint town of Madison. This new tradition has not only warmed our hearts, it’s also brought good publicity. Each year the story has made the front page of the local paper, the Morgan County Citizen. The exposure goes beyond what any advertising campaign could accomplish. For at least a short while, we’re the talk of the town. This year’s story highlighted how far Madison Woods has come with testimonials from long time residents. This praise continues to change the perception of Madison Woods, which is crucial to a successful turnaround. Unlike last year, when our faces were plastered across the front page, this year we stayed at home and let our managers accept the accolades. The enthusiasm they bring to managing the day to day operations, marketing and sales is a driving force, and they deserve the credit. Besides, they’re better looking than us.
The goodwill this gift creates will be important going forward as we seek continued city and county support to keep Madison Woods a viable workforce housing solution in the face of ongoing development pressure. With their commitment, the highest and best use for this piece of land will continue to be a manufactured home community.
