And more clean up....
One thing that we are in the process of doing to expedite the clean up process is bring in a roll off dumpster, we have set it off to one side of the park in an area where we have several empty lots. This can serve several purposes,
* Either the park, or residents can easily dispose of large items no longer in use.
* The park can easily dispose of the items removed from empty lots through clean up.
* Under the direction of management, residents have a place to dispose of the things outside and around the home that management wants removed.
* Many people have things cluttering the inside of their home and would like a convenient place to dispose of these things.
* The park can dispose of some of the debris created when rehabbing a home.
* Disposing of vines and tree trimmings.
I’m sure you can think of many more uses for a large dumpster during certain phases of the clean up process. I promote the use of the dumpster to the residents as a way to help clean our community or I prefer spring cleaning, come early. Done right many of your residents will really get behind the idea and just watch how infectious it can be.
One of the things I try to keep in mind when I do things is the impact it has on the residents, you see we do these things to clean the park and make the park more presentable and appealing to both the eye and the people who will be our future residents, with an eye to future profits, but lets not forget the residents we already have. Many of these residents are your greatest allies, they have wanted a change, they have wanted a cleaner community to live in, they have wanted the ugly dumpsters to go away and their own individual trash cans, they have wanted someone to enforce the rules, and deal with the issues that concern them. Remember this a turn around park, many have wanted change for a long time, but had no control over when or how that would ever come to be. Through the positive things you do to improve the park, your residents will tell their friends and families, tell their friends at church, tell their friends at work , the word will get out into the surrounding communities and the word of mouth advertising will pay for itself ten fold. Through them you will gain not only new residents, but the kind of residents you are looking for.
Cleaning up the park is more to me than just clean up, it’s rallying the troops , I talk up every little thing we do, I try to let the residents know every chance I get we are improving the place they live in, but that it has to be a partnership, they must do their part as well.
