Just some thoughts....
This morning I drove into the park and pulled up to the office, unlocked the door, and checked the rent drop box, pulled 3 checks out and laid them on the desk in preparation to log them into the computer. I set up the lap top, opened the payment program, started a pot of coffee and jumped back in the truck to ride the park, and take a general once over to make sure everything looked ok.
Along the way I stopped to review the plans for the day on the current home Rick was rehabbing and make sure everything was ok and that we had everything we needed. We also discussed a home we have coming in and some thoughts related to the amount of rehab it would need.
As I left Rick and rounded the corner I spotted our all around clean up person and helper, so I spent a couple of minutes discussing the list I had given him at the beginning of the week and reviewed the progress he had made so far and off I went.
As I drove the remainder of the park I made a phone call to animal control to pick up 2 stray dogs running around loose, made a note to call code enforcement to tag a car in a driveway that had no tags on it and a note to call the mobile home mover to see if the delivery date had been set for the home coming in.
Back at the office I reviewed the list of things I wanted to get done, knowing full well that with the days interruptions some things would move to tomorrows list. As I started to make phone calls I realized something. A major change has taken place here right before my eyes, gone are the days of having to put out fires every hour, of having to send people letters to bring them into compliance on issues previously discussed every week, 3 dispossessory letters a week, court appearances every week and countless other issues.
I realized the results of all the hard work and efforts are really beginning to show, we have made a difference here, there is a calmness that has come over the park that did not exist before. What a pleasure, to begin to see the rewards of your work and efforts, and most of all the smiles beginning to show on residents faces.
