The Exodus...
The Exodus…As soon as the notices were given and the media made the announcement the exodus began. Residents from the mobile home park being closed began to come looking for homes to rent or buy. The park that’s closing was a very undesirable park, there were probably less than 12 residents in the whole park that I would consider having as resident’s. We had to be cautious and screen these people very well before approving them, we have worked to hard to allow this project to take a wrong turn. Understand this, it is extremely temping to have homes available and a stream of people coming in daily looking for a place to live, but you cannot lower your standards, you will simply destroy all the hard work that has been done to raise standards and the quality of residents that has taken place, in these situations you just have to stay true to your vision.
There were only 3 homes worth trying to buy for our park, we got 2 of them.
One of the homes was a 1997 16X80 vinyl siding / shingle roof , a nice older lady.
I paid to move her and her home to our park, it will be worth it in the long run I’m sure she will be with us as long as she lives.
In the past we had always had difficulty leasing 2 bedroom homes of which we had several, this was no longer a problem as we were able to fill them up, a number of resident’s we were able to approve moved into these 2 bedroom homes which was a blessing for us.
